About this Cycle Tour

Romania’s Wine Country and Castles by Bicycle is a short, immersive introduction to the country’s lesser-known side, where rolling vineyards, historic estates, and quiet roads set the rhythm. Designed as an ideal prelude to our Transylvanian Alps journey, this tour blends gentle cycling with Romania’s most celebrated wine region and a visit to its royal heart, offering a relaxed and rewarding way to arrive in Romania before heading deeper into the mountains.

Set in the rolling hills of Dealu Mare, Romania’s most established wine region, the journey combines easy riding with behind-the-scenes access to boutique wineries and historic estates. Short routes along vineyard lanes and quiet village roads leave plenty of time for private tastings, guided cellar visits, and long lunches among the vines. The experience then shifts toward the mountains, following a historic route north to Sinaia, where Romania’s royal heritage comes into focus with a guided visit to Peleș Castle and Pelișor Castle. With thoughtfully paced rides, carefully chosen accommodations, and seamless transfers, the focus here is less on distance and more on depth, offering an elegant introduction to Romania’s wine country, royal heritage, and the landscapes that lead into Transylvania.

Join us on this elegant prelude through Romania’s wine country before joining our Touring Transylvania by Bicycle adventure. The start dates are perfectly aligned.
