From there, we enter rolling farmland, pine forests, and granite highlands. Ávila, encircled by one of the most intact medieval walls in Europe, sits high on a windswept plateau. As you continue into the Sierra de Francia, the land becomes more wooded and wild—chestnut groves, limestone cliffs, and quiet, winding roads lead you to La Alberca, a beautifully preserved mountain village nestled in a natural park.
