About this Cycle Tour

With a history over 4,000 years old, our heritage bicycle tour fuses the beauty of Vietnam’s central landscape with a glimpse into its rich, evocative past. Concentrated to just 250 km, our journey envelops the area surrounding the Hai Van Pass in central Vietnam. At Hue, the former Imperial capital of the Nguyen Dynasty, step into the past to enjoy manicured gardens and the sprawling complex of stunning palace buildings. Then our bicycle tour through Vietnam continues on down the coastal road to My Son, built by the kings of Champa between the 4th and 14th centuries, now the site of the most extensive Cham remains.

Day 1

We meet in the UNESCO World Heritage site of Hue and are immediately introduced to the Nguyen Dynasty during our tour of the Imperial Citadel, modeled after China’s Forbidden City.

Day 2

We explore by boat and bicycle the rich heritage left behind by the emperors of the Ngu Yen Dynasty. We cruise on the Perfume River to the seven-storey Thien Mu Pagoda then cycle to Ming Mang and Khai Dinh mausoleums.

Day 3

We cycle the countryside on a mix of footpaths and quiet country lanes to the traditional village of Phuoc Tich, where many homes are more than 200 years old.

Day 4

We cycle along the coast south to Lang Co Beach, passing colourful graveyards and fishing villages. The afternoon is free to enjoy the resort and beach.

Day 5

Ride and tackle a gradual 550-m climb with many switchbacks to the top of Hai Van Pass for a panoramic view. Then it's downhill from here to Danang, with a stop to visit Danang Beach before reaching our destination of Hoi An.

Day 6

Small village roads will lead us back in time to the ruins of the ancient centre of the Cham civilisation, My Son. Built from the 4th to the 14th centuries, this was once Champa's greatest city, but much was destroyed by American bombs.

Day 7

Our cycling adventure comes to an end today. We celebrate our success with one last breakfast together.

Loading and unloading a van is just awful compared to getting exercise and being immersed deeply in the traffic, smells, and people of a new place. Mr Le did an amazing job weaving history, current events, culture, and seasonal traditions into a fantastic week!

We were so pleased with our tour. Our guide Lee was excellent and took us on interesting routes, chose great places to eat and the tour as a whole was a good mix of feeling both off the beaten path and pampered.

This was a very small and personal tour and our guide was incredible. He waa smart and helpful and patient. we had very intense heat to ride in but he set a good pace for the weather and took breaks just when we needed them. Thang was a joy to be with off the road also.We had wonderful food and great conversation and when we could not eat such large meals he adjusted accordingly. In short we loved the trip but Could have used some cooler temps for sure The accomdations were above what we expected and the driver courteous and safe We were always glad that he had our backs!!
