About this Cycle Tour

Rajasthan is a beguiling land of hilltop forts, lavish palaces and colorful cities that hark back to a time when royal families ruled over western India’s princely states. From the “Pink City” of Jaipur to the “City of Lakes”, Uddaipur, this cycling tour traverses Rajasthan's arid yet culturally vibrant rural hinterland as we hop from one resplendent heritage site to the next. Throughout the journey we stay in some beautiful heritage hotels occupying the refurbished buildings of centuries’ old palaces, residences and forts.

Meeting in the state capital of Jaipur, we embark on a fantastic route through the vast countryside that sprawls along the fringes of the Thar desert. We share the roads with camel-carts and herds of cattle as we wind through countless villages and stop to visit steadfast Rajput and Mughal forts as well as intricate Hindu and Jain temples. Once we reach Jodhpur, the “Blue City”, we give our bikes a rest to marvel at the sight of its azure-hued skyline from the top of the colossal Mehrangarh Fort. We then head for the hills, climbing into the Aravalli range where we’ll spend two days surrounded by nature and exploring Kumbhalgarh Fort, with its labyrinth walls that meander along the mountain ridges. The cycling concludes with a descent towards Udaipur where we’ll crown our adventure with an exploration of scenic city lakes and ornate palaces. The tour ends in Udaipur.

Rajasthan has attracted travelers for centuries, but by bike you will not only get to see the vestiges of its regal past but also experience local life up close. Join us in immersing ourselves in this rich culture!

Itinerary

Day 1

We pick you up from your hotel in Jaipur and dive right into the history of India’s “Pink City”. We’ll explore the majestic and ornate Amer Fort and the Mughal-era astronomical observatory of Jantar Mantar. In the evening we enjoy a welcome dinner.

Day 2

Our inaugural ride in the Rajasthani countryside, passing by mud brick villages and farms, as we cycle towards the historic city of Kishangarh. We spend the night in a refurbished Maharaja's palace.

Day 3

Starting from Roopangarh Fort we cycle through the arid yet lively countryside to reach the city of Pushkar, home to one of India’s most sacred lakes.

Day 4

We traverse the foothills of the Aravalli mountain range and spend the night at Fort Khejarla, a majestic 17th century stronghold-turned-heritage hotel perched on a hilltop.

Day 5

Cycle to the Blue City of Jodhpur, Rajasthan's second largest city.

Day 6

A day off the bikes to visit the famous Mehrangarh Fort and other historic sites in the picturesque blue city of Jodhpur.

Day 7

Cycle further into the remote Rajasthani countryside, passing by millet and mustard fields before arriving at a beautiful heritage hotel in a small village near the Jawai River.

Day 8

Today we head into the Aravalli hills where a change of scenery and the tour’s hilliest ride awaits. We’ll visit the Ranakpur Jain Temple and marvel at its intricate marble carvings before transferring to our hotel in Aravalli hills.

Day 9

Based from our hotel, we’ll ride a short but hilly loop to Kumbhalgarh Fort. Out of all the Rajasthani hilltop fortresses Kumbhalgarh is arguably the most impressive, given its location and 36-kilometer-long defensive wall.

Day 10

Our final ride takes us along the ridges of the Aravalli hills and down into the valleys where we wind along undulating country roads to reach Udaipur, the “City of Lakes”. In the evening we attend a lovely folk dance performance.

Day 11

We end our tour of regal Rajasthan on a truly regal note: with a tour of Udaipur’s stunning City Palace.

Day 12

Transfer to the airport for your flight home to stay longer in India.
