About this Cycle Tour

Kanchanaburi is a favorite city-escape for Thais and international visitors alike. Located just a few hours west of Bangkok, this huge province is home to quaint slices of rustic countryside, wild pockets of dense jungles, and remnants of a storied past. Its history ranges from glories of ancient kingdoms to sombre legacies of the Second World War, most famously the Bridge over the River Kwai. Our four-day “Kanchanaburi Explorer” combines pleasant, backcountry cycling, visits to the region’s must-see sites and hidden treasures, and nights spent at unique accommodations on the banks of the Khwae Noi River.

Starting with hotel pick-ups in Bangkok, we drive to Kanchanaburi’s provincial capital to pay our respects at the War Cemetery and see the iconic steel bridge. We then cycle to the ruins of a centuries-old Hindu temple complex and spend the night at a rustic floating raft house. On Day 2 we pedal through rural and wild Kanchanaburi, passing farmlands and forested hillscapes, to reach a secluded yet elegant resort on the edge of Sai Yok National Park. On Day 3 we take to a remote region inhabited by Mon communities and visit the Hellfire Pass, a powerful outdoor museum displaying WW2-era railway cuttings. We spend the last night at a bespoke tented camp before taking a boat down the Khwae Noi River and exploring the famous seven-tiered Erawan Waterfall. The tour ends with drop-offs back in Bangkok.

Join us on this action-packed adventure and discover the charms, wilds, and stories of Kanchanaburi!

Itinerary

Day 1

We drive around 3 hours from Bangkok to Kanchanaburi, where we visit the iconic Bridge over the River Kwai and the sombre War Cemetery. In the afternoon, we cycle through farmlands and forests to reach an impressive ancient temple ruin before a quick transfer to our floating riverside hotel.

Day 2

Today's ride takes us through a large swathe of rural Kanchanaburi, where we cycle past fields of rice, sugarcane, and cassava. We also get a taste of the region's wild side, climbing over forested ridges and whizzing through the jungle to reach tonight's secluded yet elegant riverside hotel.

Day 3

In the morning, we enjoy a short but sweet ride on backcountry trails and rattle over a suspension bridge. In the afternoon we visit the Hellfire Pass, a powerful outdoor museum with remnants of WW2-era railway cuttings. We spend the night at a bespoke tented camp by the river.

Day 4

After a leisurely longtail boat ride down the Khwae Noi River, we drive to Erawan National Park, home to Thailand’s most famous waterfall. We’ll have time to explore the beautiful seven-tiered cascade before we drop you off back in Bangkok.
