About this Cycle Tour

In Greenland’s interior, there are no trees to absorb sound and no settlements to break the landscape. The land opens wide in every direction, and with it comes a quiet that feels deeper than anywhere else in the Arctic. Traveling by bike allows you to cross this terrain slowly and at human scale, covering real distance while staying fully present. In a region often seen from offshore, this is Greenland experienced on land, from ice to sea, shaped by silence, space, and raw simplicity.

This expedition-style mountain bike journey follows Greenland’s Arctic Circle Trail from Kangerlussuaq to the coastal town of Sisimiut. Riding point to point across open tundra, lake country, and fjord landscapes, the route crosses the vast interior before gradually opening toward the sea and Disko Bay. A mobile camp supports the journey, with guides handling logistics and camp setup each day. You ride for five consecutive days, finishing in Sisimiut after completing the interior-to-coast crossing. Most nights are spent in tented camps beside lakes and valleys, with simple, functional comforts suited to the environment. After the ride, the trip continues at Hotel SØMA, where warm rooms and Nordic sauna and spa facilities offer recovery after days on the trail. The final full day includes a boat journey along the coast, stopping at historic Inuit campsites and hunting grounds within the UNESCO-listed Aasivissuit–Nipisat area.

Itinerary

Day 1

We meet in Kangerlussuaq and begin riding the Arctic Circle Trail, starting at the head of the longest fjord in western Greenland and heading inland. The day ends at our first tented camp in the interior.

Day 2

Today is the longest riding day as we cross Greenland’s interior plateau along the Arctic Circle Trail. The route runs through open terrain with lakes and wide valleys, ending at a remote camp after a full day on the trail.

Day 3

We ride through a section shaped by multiple fjord systems. The route follows valleys and waterways before ending at a remote camp after another full day on the trail.

Day 4

We ride through the region of Tasersuaq, one of the major inland landmarks of the crossing. The route runs through open interior terrain before ending at our next remote camp.

Day 5

We ride the final stretch of the Arctic Circle Trail into Sisimiut, where the route opens to the coast and Disko Bay. We check in at Hotel SØMA and have lunch. The afternoon is free to explore town or relax at the hotel. Dinner is on your own.

Day 6

Today we explore the coastal part of the Aasivissuit–Nipisat UNESCO area by boat. The tour visits historic Inuit hunting grounds and abandoned settlements, followed by a free afternoon in Sisimiut and a farewell dinner.

Day 7

After breakfast, the tour ends with a transfer to Sisimiut Airport.
