About this Cycle Tour

In 11 days, cycle over 800 km across India from the Bay of Bengal to the Arabian Sea, pass through millennia of history, and watch the scenery change from shimmering sand to forested mountains, to tropical backwaters and then back to open coastline before your eyes. Not only is this bike tour an impressive achievement, but it's also a fascinating journey through one of India's most colourful regions. Brimming with history, culture, cuisine, scenery, and challenge, this South India odyssey is a story-book ride for road cyclists.

We begin in bustling Chennai (formerly Madras), the capital of Tamil Nadu. Cycle south along the Bay of Bengal, steeped in colonial history, to Puducherry. Head for inner Tamil Nadu, an arid state fed by vast reservoirs fed by the Western Ghat Mountains, and experience the pace of South Indian life and culture as you ride through quaint farming villages and small towns adorned with ornate temples. Stop in ancient Madurai for a rest day, walk its streets and take in its history and spiritual traditions at vast temples. Press on to the Western Ghat mountain range, where tough climbs are rewarded with cool mountain air and panoramic views of tea and spice country. Descend into the famously lush tropical backwaters of Kerala and its many houseboats, fishing villages, and abundant wildlife, before reaching the shores of the Arabian Sea in the old colonial quarter of Kochi.

Join us on this rich and vibrant 11-day bike adventure across Southern India!

Our ride across India begins as we head inland from Puducherry to rural Tamil Nadu. A long but gentle ride gives us time to take in the surroundings of the South Indian countryside, before arriving at a beautiful, traditionally designed resort.

Day 4

A mostly flat and scenic ride today takes us along the Kaveri River and the back roads of Tamil Nadu on a very off-the-beaten-path route. Enjoy the ride and the authentic view of South Asian life!

Today marks a major change in our riding, as we reach the Western Ghats in stunning fashion. A long climb on a winding mountain road takes us to our destination perched on a hillside with impressive views.
