About this Cycle Tour

Bangkok is one of the world’s most desired travel destinations. While many come to experience the city's unmistakable high-octane energy, cyclists know that a trip to the 'Big Mango' isn't complete without discovering the vast rural hinterland of Central Thailand that lies just beyond its urban sprawl. On this 4-day adventure, we transition from the coconut groves of the Mae Klong Delta to the jungle-clad mountains of Kanchanaburi and to the temple-studded plains of Ayutthaya. Combining gentle cycling routes suitable for all levels, must-see historical sites, cultural immersion, an unforgettable encounter with elephants, delicious Thai cuisine, and delightful riverside accommodations, this is a Bangkok city escape you don’t want to miss!

Itinerary

Day 1

We transfer two hours south from Bangkok to the Mae Klong River plains for a lovely ride through endless coconut groves. In the evening, we visit the renowned Amphawa Floating Market, with its lively canalside walkways and abundance of delicious food.

Day 2

We drive around 2 hours from Amphawa to Kanchanaburi, where we visit the iconic Bridge over the River Kwai and the sombre War Cemetery. In the afternoon, we cycle through farmlands and forests to reach an impressive ancient temple ruin before a quick transfer to our riverside hotel.

Day 3

We give our bikes a day off and spend the day at a nature conservation centre and elephant sanctuary. Learn about human-elephant conflict and see Thailand’s national animal up close. In the mid-afternoon we transfer to Ayutthaya, Siam’s once-glorious capital north of Bangkok.

Day 4

In the morning, we cycle through Ayutthaya’s UNESCO-listed ruins and riverside communities to reach Bang Pa-In, the former summer palace of Siamese kings. In the afternoon, we drop you off back in Bangkok.

Reviews

This tour was a great introduction to Thailand as it was more organized around touring than cycling.

A great way to discover a more hidden side of Thailand you might never come in contact with otherwise.
