All About this Tour

We start our riding in Loei, and, after a visit to one of the many national parks in the area, we head for the flats of the Mekong River and follow it for about 600km all the way to Nakhon Phanom. Along this section the mighty Mekong forms a natural border between Thailand and Laos and will lead us to a discovery of Laotian influences in the food and culture.

Itinerary

Day 1

Meet your guide for a trip briefing, equipment check and enjoy dinner at a local restaurant to start your culinary exploration of Thai cuisine.

Day 2

We start gently to warm our legs before our first challenge begins as the road twists and turns uphill through the green hills of Loei province.

Day 3

Cycling down to our destination at a small town of Sang Kom on the scenic roads with the sight of the Mekong.

Day 4

We head to Nongkhai, the first city Thai-Laos Friendship bridge built, with a break stop at Nong Pla Buck - a place known for giant catfishes that dwell in the Mekong river. We also pay a visit to the giant sculpture park before our overnight hotel in Nongkhai town.

Day 5

A long cycling day to complete, we continue following the bends of Mekong river's region where the faith, belief, and legend of Naga, including the Naga fireball phenomenon occur. We stop and stay over at hotel in Beung Kan.

Day 6

Most of the ride today involves easy cycling across flat roads. Soak in the way-of-life atmosphere of rural Thai villages while we pedal along the riverbanks to Ban Paeng.

Day 7

Today is our final day of cycling along this mighty river as we take in our last views of fishermen plying their trade and kids going for a swim. We end our riding in the provincial capital of Nakhon Phanom and have a farewell meal on the river.

Day 8

After breakfast you will catch your flight from Nakhon Phanom airport to Bangkok.
