About this Cycle Tour

Wanted to get into Long Course Triathlon racing, but looks intimidating, or want to get more practice at going long?

This weekend is perfect to experience what this type of racing is all about. Experience the distances over 2 days (1.9km/90km/21.1km). We will also have a duathlon option, instead of the 1.9km swim, we will do 1 lap of the 6km run course.

We will not race this event, but more of a sportive event, by swimming riding and running in groups that are appropriate for your level of fitness. Drafting and tri-bars are allowed, but when riding on the tri-bars, make sure you keep a suitable distance between riders.

We aim to make this a social and fun event and offer encouragement, tips and advice to those with less experience.

Day 1

Start with a 1.9km swim in a freshwater lake (1 x 6km run loop) - this will be a looped course and have a water safety crew to monitor the swim. The bike course will be a rolling 90km ride with about 500m of climbing. The ride will be supported in case of any mechanical issues and we will have a drink and water stop, at approx 47km. The bike ride will be supported and will supply drinks, food and mechanical assistance if required. The swim and bike will be in groups of athletes with the same levels of fitness and we will swim and ride together as groups. After the bike ride, we have time to shower change and have a buffet lunch to get fueled for the half marathon on Sunday.

Day 2

The run will take place on Sunday and will be a nice shaded 6km loop with hills and twists and turns and we will do 3 x 6km loops and a final 3km loop around the stadium. There will be water stations every 3km and the SR staff on hand on golf carts around the route to provide support and make the course as safe as possible.
