About this Cycle Tour

On the northeastern side of Phuket island lies a village where pace of life is slow and untainted by mass tourism. Cycling around rural Phuket,we discover how local inhabitants have lived here for generations. On our bikes we explore various farms in the region. Here, the technique of rubber tree tapping and hand rolling into sheets are still commonly used. Phuket is renowned for its pineapples and we will see the plantations on our ride. We navigate our way around villages and see the locals go about their daily lives. We take break at the fisherman's restaurant to hop on a kayak and paddle our way through the lush mangroves. If we are lucky, we will be able to spot red tiny crabs crawling out on the roots. We end our active morning with a small trek to the gibbon rehabilitation center and take a short hike up a waterfall. We ride on paved country roads with occasional dirt tracks as we're cutting through farms and some sections will be on the main road. This is an active 18 km-ride with some undulations and short hills to tackle.

Reviews

If you need few hours away from the beach, this is the right tour for you. You get to experience the local culture, get to see the Gibbon project and the waterfall. Kayaking was also great fun. 25 kms full of adventure. Nikom was a very knowledgeable guide.

I was solo so had to pay a supplement. Picked up from the hotel on time. Travelled to meet Nick (the guide). Water and helmets supplied. Great ride through the rubber and pineapple plantations and a chance to walk through and take a closer look. Hills on some sections. Stopped off a a local shop for refreshments and snacks. Then on to the kayak section. Life jackets supplied. Kayak through the mangroves. Then cycle back to the waterfall, it was the dry season so not very impressive. Nick was an excellent guide and made the trip interesting. This is my 2nd SpiceRoads trip and they do seem to be well organised.

We participated in your Countryside Bike & Kayak Tour yesterday and had a wonderful time with your team in Phuket! We will definitely join a SpiceRoads tour again and recommend it to our friends and family.
