Itinerary

Day 1

We meet in Guiyang, the capital of Guizhou province, in time for a welcome dinner at a local restaurant for our first taste of local fare.

Day 2

We take an early morning transfer from Guiyang to the village of Kaili, home to a number of fascinating ethnic minority groups who can be seen in colourful traditional dresses. On arrival in Kaili, we get on our bikes and start cycling to the Miao ethnic village of Xijiang. Then we climb up to the Leigong Hills and to one of China’s largest Miao villages, also known as the “The Thousand Household Village”.

Day 3

We ride through scenic rice paddy fields to Leishan town this morning. After a lunch stop we have a climb up to Leishan pass at 2,200m. The reward for the effort is a breathtaking view of the terraced rice fields and numerous small Miao and Dong ethnic villages dotted across the landscape. We then continue to Yongle village via scenic dirt paths.

Day 4

Today we start with a transfer to Baji village from where we cycle alongside the Duliujiang River. We ride through a valley to Xiajiang for a local lunch. Back on the bikes for an uphill ride to the fascinating Basha Miao village. After our visit we cruise to today's final destination, Congjiang.

Day 5

A short transfer takes us to the starting point for our journey towards Zhaoxing, a pretty Dong minority town nestled in a valley surrounded by beautiful scenery. Here, we'll have time to stroll around and go for an exploration of the town's old wooden buildings, wind and rain bridges, and wooden drum towers.

Day 6

After a short transfer we start cycling on a flat gravel road as we head towards Du Dong, a remote area full of beautiful shelter bridges, stockade villages and lush rice terraces. After a climb we spend around 15 km on pleasant undulating roads through the surrounding tea plantations. A final downhill push takes us into Tongle where we stop for lunch. After lunch we transfer to Sanjiang where it's back on the bikes for the cycle to Chengyang.

Day 7

Our riding starts in Longshen where we'll be in the midst of rice terraces that start from the riverside and reach all the way up to the mountain top. We take the old road that sees very little traffic and will have a peaceful ride along the river through this fantastic landscape.

Day 8

Our morning starts with a hike through the stunning terraced fields for impressive views. Our cycling destination is Xingping. The route follows the valley and gives us gorgeous views of the limestone karsts as we follow the meandering Li River.

Day 9

After breakfast at Xingping we begin our ride to Yangshuo, taking a boat across the river towards Yangdi. We cycle along quiet rural countryside roads, passing by local markets in Baisha village, and following the picturesque Yulong River to Yangshuo, where we will be spending our last night.

Day 10

Today we have one group transfer to Guillin in time for our departure flights.
