About this Cycle Tour

Join the Spiceroads Team on a three-day cycling long weekend to Chiang Mai to test your legs on some real hills and breathe the clean mountain air of northern Thailand. Chiang Mai has become the spiritual home to Thai cycling, something of an Asian equivalent of Girona, Nice, Tuscany or Ghent, only with weather that’s generally better and everything that makes cycling in Thailand such a treat. Great food, friendly smiles along the road and an excellent massage at the end of the day. There is a thriving local road riding scene and the Spiceroads Chiang Mai team are looking forward to showing you around.

Our long weekend program will be based at Kantary Hills Hotel in the bustling Nimmanhaemin area of Chiang Mai and includes three rides on Friday, Saturday and Sunday and as usual, we plan to run several groups running at different speeds.

Itinerary

Day 1

Arrive in Chiang and be picked up from the airport and transfer to our hotel up near Chiang Mai University,

Day 2

On Friday morning we will start with a relatively gentle rolling ride south to Mae Wang looping back into town in time for lunch.

Day 3

On Saturday we will ride the famous Samoeng Loop, one of Asia’s great rides on a spectacular 100km loop through the mountains, taking in 2000meters of climbing. This is a challenging ride for any level of rider and our fully supported trip will make sure it is manageable for everyone. While for experienced riders looking for an even bigger challenge can finish with a 10km climb up Doi Suthep.

Day 4

On Sunday we will ride north to Mae Jo and then on another spectacularly scenic loop via Mae Rim and back into Chiang Mai on mostly rolling roads with a few hills but nothing compared to the previous day's exertions
